Lucy's Puppy
So many of you know that we have a Great Dane. She was our baby before Lucy was our baby- now she has been unceremoniously demoted to "dog" but she has handled the transition with some grace. I was very worried before Lucy was born that Ella would not tolerate a baby in the house because she has a "mild" (read: debilitating) fear of children. So far she has been really great showing very little interest in Lucy and tolerating some poking and pulling. Now for all you anxious Grandparents out there we still keep a very close eye on the two of them. They are never alone together and I know I often separate them or sit right there with Lucy when she is "patting" the puppy. I have been really pleasantly surprised by Ella's behavior with Lucy. It should be said though that she still seems to hate all other children so we will continue to cautiously assess their relationship as Lucy gets bigger.
Standing Around
Lucy continues to stand more and more. She seems to be building up her strength. I'm thinking she'll be walking by the end of October- Thanksgiving at the latest. I know it's going to rock my world when I have to start keeping up with a running baby. She continues to have the smallest feet I've ever seen. She just graduated into the 3-6month footwear. Not that she ever wears footwear mind you. Socks and shoes alike are hastily taken off when I put them on her.
Just now as I was typing she took a little half step all by herself! She lifted her right foot and moved it forward without holding on to anything! She fell down almost immediately thereafter, but hey you've got to start somewhere.
The pictures that I'm posting are one of her playing in the kitchen without pants on- it looks like she's walking, but it's just an illusion. The other is her looking wistfully down the stairs after her Mimsy and Grand Dad left on Saturday. Or maybe she was trying to tell them about all the stuff they were accidentally leaving behind.

Chillin at Lauren Parc
The weather was nice today so we headed outside. Lucy mostly wanted to eat grass.

Toys Toys Toys
While her Papa is away Lucy has accumulated quite a few new toys. In general we try to limit the number of plastic toys she has, but I welcome hand-me-downs and the occasional gift. I recently came across this one toy in particular that she has really showed a lot of interest in at Marissa's house. It's called the Amazing Animal Choo Choo and she loves it. Danielle gave her a push walker thingy that she can cruise around the living room behind, and finally her Granny gave her this cool bear that sings and lights up. His name is Fisher. Not only is he fun but he tastes great too!
Yesterday was Lucy's 9 month doctor's appointment. Her current stats are as follows:
height: 26.5 inches
weight: 16 lbs 9 oz
She is definitely petite!
