Gangsta

Lucy Lil' ? Lil' Lucy? Lil' Little? Lil' Lil'? Lil' LOL? Lucy got a tattoo like Weezy, thinking it was cool, and I had to explain to her that I thought this meant she had killed someone in prison. I mean shes hard and all, but not that hard. Or even more appropriately I guess... Seriously though, she bumped into a table at the babysitters. Lil Lucy needs to be more careful.

To add to below about the Hawks gear

Joe Johnson is Lucy's favorite current Hawks player. Like everybody else, she thinks Dominique was the best Hawks player ever, but we'd really like to get her a Spud Webb jersey, considering that's the player who's style she is most likely to emulate.

Hawks Paraphernalia

Lucy had such a good time at the Hawks game! She clapped her hands and yelled "Yeah!" She seemed to understand what was going on better than I did. We put her sippy cup of milk in the cup holder and she would point to it every once in a while and then after she had her refreshment she'd go right back to cheering. It was certainly the most fun I've ever had at a basketball game. So of course we bought her a jersey.

Miscellaneous

I was just scanning through our pictures this morning (while I should be getting ready for work) and this one made me smile. I was hoping it might make you smile too. Instead of pushing this toy in front of her like you're supposed to, she drags it behind her. Less work and you still get the music sounds.

New Chair and Bathrobe

Lucy got a new chair recently and she loves it. It matches our living room furniture almost exactly and she sits in it like a big person. She also got a new bathrobe so she has something to toddle around in after a bath. In the pictures you can see her chillaxin' in her robe in her chair and making a call to her broker on the cell phone (it got heated) in her chair and snacking on an apple in her chair. p.s. after a goldfish debacle food is no longer allowed on the new chair

New Favorite Toy

For Christmas Lucy was showered with gifts many of which were fancy toys that require batteries. She enjoyed all of them, but her new favorite toy is something we already had- the bathroom trashcan! She drags it out of the bathroom then pushes it around the kitchen then puts it on her head. After being horrified after the first time I saw her with the trashcan on her head I cloroxed it and now it is off limits for actual trash. It has become "Lucy's trashcan" is there anything in this house that isn't hers?

Momma's Shoes

Lucy has recently taken to putting my shoes on if I leave them out. She will even walk around in them if she can. It's pretty funny. Normally, I'd say they aren't very big shoes to fill, but based on the size of Lucy's feet and her current rate of growth- they are gonna be big shoes to fill for her!

Where is Papa?

Washington D.C. CNN sent him to the inauguration. His assignment? Inaugural Balls. It's the hard hitting type news he really loves. Anyway, despite being really cold he has had some still shots he took published on CNN.com go to this link to check them out. His name shows up after the captions on the ones he took. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/17/obama.train/index.html#cnnSTCPhoto Sorry, no pics of Lucy in this one.

12 Month Check-up

Today Lucy had her 12 month check up. Yes, I realize that it is a month late, but our pediatrician is very popular. Her updated stats are as follows: ht: 28.5 inches (25th percentile) wt: 19 lbs 2 oz (10th percentile) and I forget her head circumference, but it is in the 50th percentile So she continues to have a large noggin, but everything else is pretty petite. She was also diagnosed with her second ear infection. Her second ever and this month. We just finished a round of antibiotics for an infection in her left ear- today it's the right one that's infected. Hopefully, this new antibiotic will clear everything up and we can be done with ear infections for awhile. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that we are not looking at something that is going to be chronic. The pediatrician said she is meeting and/or exceeding all her milestones and is perfect in every way, but this is nothing new to us!

Leaping lizards

Vocabs

Lucy can say a couple words close to standard English and use them to mean almost what they really mean. They are:

Bye bye (sometimes used correctly but often used as "open this door please")

Uh-oh (I dropped / am planning on dropping something)

She has a few more that are close:

Papa (usually sounds more like bah bah but it means me)

Hee (key)

Dough (Dog, usually Ella)

Beebo (Belly button. Sometimes the pronunciation is better, closer to "bellbuh". But it means belly button, which she's obsessed with, hers mostly but she's intereted in yours too)

Cute Legs

In the pantry up to no good. She is taking each item out and trying to figure out if it is potentially deadly. She only likes to play with things that could cause her bodily harm. Dog flea and tick repellent- in individual childproof packets- discard onto floor. Un-inflated balloons- choking hazard- I'll go back to them if I can't find something sharp...

The Park

So I was watching a show on TLC about really morbidly obese people and one of them developed rickets- now he did weigh over 600lbs and he had not left his house in 10 years, but the doctors stated he probably got rickets because of lack of exposure to sunlight. Well- I immediately thought of myself and my poor home bound baby. She goes from daycare to our house and she may be so completely sunlight deprived that she is within seconds of developing rickets. Come to think of it she does look a little bow legged..... Holy Mess I need to take this baby to the park!!! So we went to the park. Keep in mind that she's still on antibiotics for an ear infection and it's maybe the coldest day of the year here in atlanta, but rickets is serious- yo.

Happy New Year!

Lucy hopes all of you have a very happy New Year. This year has been a big one for her. She started the year unable to hold her own head up and today she can run and climb stairs! She is still mulling over her new years resolutions, but she is excited about all the new things 2009 will bring. Lucy isn't the only one around here that had a big year. At Lucy's birthday party I shared 12 things I had learned this year. For those of you unable to make the party here's a list again in no particular order. (It may vary from the original because I can't find the paper I wrote the original on- I have a feeling I put it "some where safe" 1. Your child is only as clean as your floor 2. It is possible to vacuum, clean the bathroom, go to the bathroom, cook, get dressed, etc all with one hand 3. God always puts the people you need most in your life when you need them 4. My mother really is amazing 5. The smaller the person the more stuff they require 6. I learned what breasts are really for 7. How to sleep in 4 hour increments and like it 8. I didn't know what fun was until I chased a giggling baby around the living room 9. Miracles really do happen everyday 10. I wasn't as fat as I thought I was 11. Men with babies are hot (especially when it's your man, your baby and he just said "why don't you take a nap" 12. It's o.k. to need and ask for help
