Girly Things

She has her first "up do" It needs to grow a little more to be official, but it's pretty close.  Note" She's reading and taking notes on "How to Talk so Your Kids will Listen and Listen so Your Kids will Talk"  She likes to stay a step ahead of us.
I broke out the tutu the other day to see what she thought.  She wouldn't take it off.  She twirled around in it and got ketchup on it.  Let's hope the ketchup stain comes out.

Eye Color Watch Part II

I borrowed this picture from my dad.  I think it best displays Lucy's eyes.  When she was first born her eyes were a dark blue and we were warned that they would probably not stay blue.  Wes has brown eyes so we figured that they would turn brown like his.  As you can see they are not brown.  They are not blue nor are they green.  Like everything else- even her eye color is unique!  We've been calling them hazel, but let's tell the truth- she invented her own eye color.  The books I have read say that around 9 months eye color stabilizes, but I know plenty of people who say their eye color changed later in life.  I guess Lucy could keep us guessing for awhile.  In the meantime could you imagine a more perfect eye color for this beautiful baby?

Jacket

I was folding laundry yesterday when Lucy pulled out this fleeced-lined jacket.  She brought it over to me and insisted that I put it on her.  She wore it for the next couple of hours.  I tried taking it off once or twice, but she cried every time.  I finally got it off her at bath time.  It was 80 degrees in Atlanta yesterday.

Great Grandmas (outside)

We had a great time in Milledgeville today.  Lucy ran herself ragged playing in the great outdoors.  There were also bubbles and a pinwheel.  I have so many happy childhood memories of running around in this yard- it makes me happy to be able to share it with Lucy now.  This house is part of my history and Lucy is my now and it's so amazing to see the two meet!

Itsy Bitsy Spider

Lucy got a raincoat.  Therefore, it was time to investigate the circumstances under which the itsy bitsy spider's initial efforts were thwarted.  Conclusions- rain is wet and slippery.  Perhaps the spider should invest in a raincoat so at least his upper half would be dry.

SNOW!!!!

It is snowing in Atlanta.  It is probably the best snow we've gotten here in a long long time.  Lucy loved playing in the snow.  She cried when I made her come inside.  It was magic.  I love being a Mommy and getting to see these things through her eyes.  If I were here all by myself I wouldn't have even gone out in the snow much less played in it and laughed at it and brought a bucket of it inside to watch it melt.
We spent 1 hour finding our snow clothes and getting dressed.  Lucy is wearing approximately 40 items of clothing and zero water-proof gloves.  Total time spent outside in the snow maybe 20 minutes- but it was totally worth it!

I Could/Should Do That

Since becoming a Mommy I have seen many things that are very cool and extremely pricey that I often think- I could make this.  Here is an example.  They are these very cool headbands that are essentially a piece of fabric attached to an elastic band.  Lucy owns 2.  I want 100 of them. I'm not going to tell you how much I paid because it's embarrassing.  They work great though and really are very cute.  The reason it's embarrassing that I purchased these is that they have to be incredibly easy to make yourself.  If only I could sew.
Other items that I should be making myself, but don't: hair bows (I own a hot glue gun I could totally do this), pacifier clips (I actually did make a couple of these and I think the product was quite nice, but they didn't hold up great with heavy use); pillowcase dresses (so cute and probably a cinch to make).  This is just a sampling of a few items that some brilliant Mommy decided to mass produce and make a ton of money selling.  I'm the sucker Mommy that buys the stuff.
