Thank you notes

I'm making Lucy write thank you notes for all of her birthday gifts. She's got A LOT to write and she's only about five in because she takes such care with each one. She writes the note- sounding out the words and then personalizes each with a picture. Watching her bent over the page with her eyebrows knitted together in concentration breaks my heart in the best way. She's so authentically invested in this task of saying thanks. I must channel this energy next time I have to write thank you notes.
