This and That

I am working on another video but until then these pics will have to satisfy. Lucy has been flitting about doing various activities. She went to church one Sunday in a red gingham dress her Mimsy and Grandad gave her. Then she had a dinner date with her mom and some of her mom's friend's from work. She was a very good girl at dinner although she is very interested in flatware and putting it in her mouth. We also lost several paper items under the table after Lucy had her way with them, but all in all she was easy to entertain and everyone enjoyed her cute little mug. Finally, last weekend Mimsy and Grandad came up to keep her for a day while mom had to work. They had a blast and as you can see they wore Lucy slap out. Keeping up with grandparents is hard to do- they just have so much energy.

Great Grandma's House

This weekend Lucy traveled to her Great Grandma's house. We met Mimsy and Grand Dad there and had a nice visit. Lucy played on Great Grandma's floor and went for a swing on her gazebo swing. She had two nice long naps to and from Great Grandma's as well. We had a great time. It is always nice to spend a day in the country with family.

Learning To Crawl

Lucy is thinking about crawling.  It will probably take her another month to coordinate all the movements.  She gets frustrated once she's up on all fours because she doesn't know what to do next.  I guess it's time to put baby proofing the house in high gear!

Deck Furniture

We got new deck furniture- a purchase that I have been advocating for 2 years now!  I'm so excited- I can't wait to eat breakfast out there and invite folks over to grill and eat out on the deck.  What could make deck furniture more exciting than it already is?  Putting your baby girl on it and taking her picture.  It was a beautiful morning and Lucy just made the deck that much prettier.

Child Genius

I don't usually like pictures of Lucy with her pacifier in because it covers up her pretty little mouth, but this one has a special significance.  Lucy put the pacifier in her mouth all by herself.  It took both hands and a couple of tries, but she figured it out and now she does it all the time.  She is a GENIUS!  She still gets frustrated though because sometimes she already has a pacifier in her mouth and can't figure out how to get a second one in there too.  Life is rough.
She also got a Rainforest Jumperoo yesterday.  She isn't heavy or long enough yet for her feet to touch the floor so we have to put a pillow under her.  As with all of her toys I have yet to put batteries in it, but I won't tell her if you don't.

Lucy in a Bag

I'm pretty sure this is not what Haden's mom thought I would put in this bag when she gave it to me, but while she is this small I pretty much try to stuff Lucy into any bag/basket/box that we get just to see if it will make a cute picture.  She didn't fit in her easter basket from Aunt Mandie, but as you can see she crammed quite nicely into this bag from Aunt Danielle.  Thank you Aunt Danielle!  For those of you that would like to get to know Lucy's future husband better he has his own blog now- hadencheek.blogspot.com you can check him out!
Today Lucy's plans involve supervising while I clean the house, taking a walk around the block and getting a bath.  As I mentioned in the last post Lucy takes her baths very seriously.  I think she enjoys them as she kicks and splashes the whole time, but she doesn't smile.  Her expression is always one of mild concern. Will this be the time mommy accidentally lets me drown?  I don't think she trusts me with water.

Screaming, teething, finding her feet, etc

Lucy has been very busy over the last few weeks.  She has entertained guests at her home and been on two dates.  Mommy forgot her camera on the dates so we'll have to wait until her boyfriend's mom emails some to us before we can post them.  Both Haden and Lucy were more alert on these dates, but they still don't really seem to care that the other is in the room.  So the tale won't be one of love at first sight, but rather one of love that grows over time into something beautiful and lasting.
Lucy loved meeting Papa's friends.  They are cool kids, and as Lucy likes hanging with the cool group she fit right in.  When Dave first met Lucy all he could say was "That is adorable."  He must have said it twelve times, and we have to agree That IS adorable.
Most recently Lucy has taken to screaming- not in pain or frustration- just to hear herself scream.  The first couple of times I heard her I ran over to make sure her leg wasn't broken.  She also recently found her feet.  She holds onto them and occasionally puts them in her mouth.  She also continues to sprout teeth.  We currently have two breaking through the gum and we suspect two more, but haven't seen them conclusively yet.
The pictures I am posting are of Lucy taking a bath (which she takes very seriously) and one of the outfits that Haden's mom talked us into buying on one of their dates.
