Big girl

So here's a story. On the flight out to Hawaii we had a connection at LAX. We were letting la Luz run wild in the airport and she went up to this table of people eating and they said something about how she was a "big girl". Luz replied "I pooped in the potty on the plane".
She had actually done so, which was a pretty impressive feat, which had earned her praise as a "big girl".
Not exactly dinner conversation though.

Catch a lizard

One of la Luz's favorite parts of the trip was catching lizards outside the Kaaawa beach house. Lucy has a verbal tick that I don't think we've talked about here before. If she just bumped her head on something she will say "bump a head" or if she is worried about pinching her leg in a chair she says "pinch a leg". Similarly she wandered around the lanai and yard imploring "catch a lizard". The yard was full of lizards. I caught her several and she found them hilarious. She sometimes wanted to hold them, sometimes not. I did accidentally break the tail off one and it wiggled around the deck thoroughly freaking out Allison. I don't know if Allison ever successfully caught one. One morning I caught her a large lizard and after laughing at it she said "catch a baby one". Which I then did (catching lizards is not that easy people). She was thrilled with the tiny lizard for about 30 seconds then she said "catch a big one".

Sea glass

Allison picked up a few peices of sea glass to show to la Luz, who promptly started eating them. They do look like candy.

Toe

ok, this is misleading, she pretty much ran in this photo was from later in the beach visit.

Ocean Girl

Lucy loved the beach. Last time she was on a beach she tried to eat all the sand. This time she enjoyed splashing in the water and playing in the sand. I have never been a big fan of the sand due to it's propensity to get everywhere, but Lucy does not have this aversion. Unfortunately, she also has no aversion to potentially drowning as she often threw herself headlong into the surf with little regard for the current, tide, or her current inability to swim. Keeping her alive on the beach was at times a full time job for at least three people. We all had a great time though and can't wait for our next beach vacation. As a side note Lucy did not get a sunburn during this trip (I wish I could say the same for myself)

Out of Office

If you have noted the lack of posts it's because Lucy is on vacation. She'll return to the office next week with lots of pictures and tales to tell. Miss you and wish you were here!
