All Geared Up for a Boating Excursion

Memorial Day boat excursion with cousins. So fun. No sunburns for us= major success. Sweet stuff here took awhile to warm up to lake swimming. She was concerned about crocodiles in the water, but we did manage to convince her that it was fun.

The Pre-k Grad enjoys froyo

We went out for pizza and froyo to celebrate Lucy's pre-k graduation today.  It was an emotional day for me. Lucy was just excited about pizza and froyo. They had a picnic at her school and as I watched her run and play with her friends I was thinking about how it was probably the last time she'd see them.  They will go to school at elementary schools in Tucker, but Lucy will go to school in Decatur. I will have to arrange play dates, and let's face it- once she starts school chances are not good that I'll have my act together enough for play date arranging.

This is the end of a mini- era and it got here disturbingly quickly. I'm sad and a little anxious about the rapid changes, but Lucy will be fine. She is growing up into this amazing little person. So kind and sensitive but remarkably self assured.  Her teacher wrote her a little note that said "keep being a friend to all."  That made me such a proud Mommy. I'm happy that she has the vocabulary of an 8th grader but her sweet spirit makes me nearly burst with pride. It is going to be so fun watching her become a kindergartener.

Generic diet soda and mentos

Driftwood Beach

Jekyll Island

I will post a pic from my phone shortly, but for those of you who are interested (Hi Mom!) here's the narative.

Lucy and I drove down to Jekyll Island on Friday to meet up with friends.  It was a really long car ride but we made it with the help of lots of snacks and a DVD player.  We went straight to the water park Summer Waves when we got there to meet up with Danielle and Haden and Mary and her little girl Bailey.

Lucy had never met Bailey before, but it was love at first sight.  It's no secret that Lucy loves older girls and Bailey was no exception.  She wanted to be just like her.

Saturday was Tri-Day.  Danielle and I woke up at the crack of dawn leaving Mary with all three kids (Saint Mary) to go fling ourselves into the murky salty ocean waters.  The swim was excruciately difficult for me, the bike was flat and fast and the run was hot.

After the race we learned about sea turtles and watched a rehabilitated loggerhead be released into the ocean.  I hope she has better luck with her swim than I did with mine.

Jekyll was beautiful and full of interesting ocean creatures.  We found hermit crabs, sand dollars, conch shells with snails still living in them, blue crabs, jelly fish, horseshoe crabs, and I'm sure other stuff that I'm forgetting.  Driftwood beach was beautiful and the kids liked climbing all over the fallen trees.  I'm so glad we wend, I'm super glad we survived the Tri and I can't wait to go again.
