Had to go to Maine to find a ball

I read like a month ago that now was a good time developmentally to introduce a ball during playtime. I have since been in search of a ball that was not too big and didn't have holes in it. Turns out that the only place to find a ball like this is in Portland Maine. Also, I should tell you that I made a small child cry when I purchased this ball. See- the shop keeper's son was playing with it and I had found another ball, but noticed that his was smaller so I asked if we could have a small one. Turns out his was the last one and when his mom took it from him he disintegrated into tears. I felt like a total jerk. He perked up though when his mom let him help ring us up. So to get a great small rainbow colored ball you have to travel to Maine and take it from a small child.

Plumpy spends the day in Maine. Her day included the obligatory visit to LL Bean and later witnessed the crowning of a new Sea Goddess at the lobster festival in Rockland, Maine.

Sunday Lunch

The family went to church this morning then to lunch afterward. We went to Eats. I had Jerk Chicken, un had some turkey lasagna and plumpy had sweet potato, black beans and pasta (all actual restaurant foods). She seemed to really like the frijoles. She was eating them as fast as we could put them in front of her. She ended up looking like Fred Flintstone with a five oclock shadow Note* this post was sent from a mobile device (though edited on a real computer), which opens up tons of possibilities. Expect even more Lucy content.

Formal Portraits

About a month (or two) ago we had Lucy sit for formal portraits. The guy took some great pictures, but overall we found his prices to be astronomical so next time Lucy gets portraits we're going to Sears or JCPenney where they'll make us a CD of all the pictures and we can print them out on our own. Our first photographer didn't want us to have the ability to print the proofs because he wanted to charge insane amounts for prints. The prints we could afford to purchase are beautiful, just not as many as we would have liked. So in my own way I'm going to "stick it to the man" because I have scanned in the pictures we purchased and I'm posting them here for everyone to see- free of charge! Of course after you see them you may want to send us money because she is just THAT CUTE!

Uncle Drew Is Home!!!

Lucy's Uncle made is back safe from Iraq this past weekend. We missed the welcome home ceremony because I had to work, but we were there the next day to make sure the rumors were true! Uncle Drew looks good and we sure are glad he's safe and home. We had a great weekend- we went to the beach (photos to follow) and we went to church on post (Papa had the longest hair of any male there). Lucy and Marissa got to play together some more. Marissa is full on walking now, and Lucy is full on crawling and pulling up- she has the bruises to prove it! The visit was too short, but it was GREAT to see Drew and hug him and see his family reunited. Marissa has a Daddy full time now! Yeah!!!

Weekend of the 4th

This last weekend Lucy went to visit Mimsy, Grand Dad, Granny, Grandpa, Aunt Kristin and cousin Marissa. We had a great weekend. The girls went swimming a couple of times, and got to hang out and play. I love seeing them together. Marissa is walking now and Lucy is very impressed. Lucy is very fond of the pool. She loves splashing and kicking in the water. Marissa is a big splasher while Lucy enjoys a smaller (shall we say petite) splash. Here are a couple pictures of the girls in the pool. Hope all of you had a happy 4th!

Happy Fourth of July

Today is the 4th of July! (In the second picture her shirt says Little Firecracker- but her belly ate most of the shirt so you can't really see it) Yesterday was Lucy's 7 month birthday. I cannot believe that I have a 7 month old. Her latest and greatest accomplishment in the motor skills department is that she has mastered sitting in every way. She can sit alone and move in and out of sitting from a crawling position all by herself. I was pretty surprised the first time I saw her move her self from hands and knees to sitting! Crawling is still more what I would call scooting, but she's pretty good at it and can fairly rapidly get herself into trouble these days. For example- I have always thought to myself- why do we need outlet covers? Why would a baby be interested in a boring old outlet. Well, I'm still not sure what the draw is but little fingers go straight for the closest one- and if there happens to be something plugged in with a cord to chew- even better! Other notable events from the week- Mom and Pop went on their first date since Lucy showed up. You can see a picture of Lucy with her babysitter for the evening. Trish is a co-worker of Wes's and she took great care of Lucy while we wined and dined. It was so nice to be a person outside of work and mommyhood for a couple of hours. But it was also nice to scoop Lucy up and snuggle her at the end of the evening. Now Lucy would like to type a few of her thoughts: njkkjflklkk ify vuuuiklkl,knio8 . She hunts and pecks - we need to work on her typing skills
