Sugar & Spice

Lucy is my sunshine. She makes me so happy and I think any one would agree that she is a very easy baby- always has been. BUT she still has her moments. Here is a montage of a few that we've survived in the last several months. For those of you with younger children thinking to yourself right now "my child will never act like that." Yes, your child will act EXACTLY like this. And for those of you with babies this age or older, well, you feel me. Regardless she will always be my sunshine.

I love you Brussels sprouts

I got one of those intact stalks of brussels sprouts* the other day, and Lucy commandeered it as a pet. I had to just let her keep it for a while. I popped the sprouts off overnight and she seemed not to remember her friend. * I'm coo coo for the brux sprouts now days. I think it's just a good way to eat a lot of salt and pepper and red pepper. Anyway roast them or grill them till brown and crispy, beautiful. Not yr moms mooshy old boiled gross brux sprouts.

Drat

Well, i'm working on something like this for Lucy year 2, but not quite as fancy (i didnt use dates or props) I'm not saying they "stole it" because i didn't tell anybody and Im sure other people are doing this/ have done it:
And I think mine will be different anyway because mine are mostly stright on mug shots + La Luz changes a lot more than this kid. Anyway, look forward to that in December. Also if they REALLY took a picture every single day and didnt fudge it I'm impressed. But I bet they fudged it (changed the clothes and the date and took 2 or more at the same time, daily photos are really hard to accomplish)

Trivia time

Lucy woke up this morning saying "Awww May-yan" over and over. Anybody know where this comes from? Come on people with kids.
Update:
Guys, I haven't forgotten about this but I can't find a suitable video or audio clip to put up.
It is a cartoon character.
Also I have discovered there are many youtube clips of other young children doing the same thing.
they are hilarious.

Miss Independent

I never gave a 18 month doctor appointment update so I will do so now that she is 20 months old. She was 24lbs and 31inches tall. The doctor wanted to know how many words she could say and I told her fifty, but I think that was an underestimation. Some of her current favorite phrases include:
Go Away (translation- I need some alone time)
Lucy do it (translation- Please allow me to do this myself)
Buckle self (translation- I would like to buckle myself into my high chair please)
Pinch leg (translation- Once while buckling myself into my high chair I accidentally pinched my leg. I sure hope that doesn't happen again)
Too tight (translation- my car seat straps are too tight dearest mother)
Go Home (translation- I am tired and would like to go home now please)
Mommy do it (translation- I have tried my best but cannot seem to get this to work. Mother will you please assist me?)
She also tells her Papa that he needs to shower and that his clothes are stinky on occasion
She is extremely independent and wants to do everything herself. She gets mad if you try to help. She is surprisingly capable at doing many many things by herself and once she gets really frustrated she will eventually ask for help (or order you to do so). She loves to make people smile and is a total clown and show off. Quite frankly I'm beginning to think they switched babies on us in the nursery at the hospital. I mean Wes and I are both so mild mannered and complacent I just do not know where all this behavior comes from.
I also have a theory that when you are 18 months you already have all the personality that you will have when you are an adult- it's just distilled and concentrated so that it will fit into a very tiny package.

Lucy and the Cheerios lady

NC

A few random pics from our recent trip to North Carolina for my cousin's wedding. Lucy and her cousin Marissa had a blast playing together. The rehearsal dinner on Friday night featured lots of good food and go-cart racing after dinner. Saturday morning we checked out Duke gardens and inflicted a little damage to the flora then harassed a few fauna. Lucy loved the ducks she laughed at them and flapped her wings at them. Saturday afternoon/evening was the wedding and the girls tore up the dance floor at the reception.
